Meet the SHAPErs!
Jackson Lombardi
My name is Jackson Lombardi and I’m a seventeen year old senior at Boulder High School. I first joined SHAPE because of a friend’s wonderful experience and am now ending my similarly amazing one. SHAPE is a great community and network of people dedicated to spreading awareness and protection. I love how directly I can influence and help my community at Boulder High because I’m in SHAPE. I also love to ski.

Jeremy Salvucci
My name is Jeremy Salvucci. I am 17 years old and a senior at Boulder High School. I applied to be a part of SHAPE the summer after my sophomore year after learning about the prevalence of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections in health class. I realized that if every student had the opportunity to be educated as thoroughly as I was (my school has a very comprehensive approach to health and sex ed), the amount of unplanned pregnancies and STIs among teens could be drastically decreased. As a member of SHAPE, I try to help make this ideal a reality by making sexual health presentations in Middle and High Schools along with other SHAPERS. SHAPE has been a fantastic experience and I’ve seen firsthand that it really makes a difference in my community.
Camille Wiegold
My name is Camille Weigold and I am currently a junior at Fairview High School. I started SHAPE when I was a sophomore and I love every meeting, presentation, condom zap, retreat and person involved in SHAPE, including the mentors. I joined SHAPE because my sister had done it and told me it was an opportunity of a lifetime, and that it was really meaningful to be someone that could answer questions regarding sexual health for others. At first I was a little nervous about not knowing all the information and sounding inexperienced compared to the other people in SHAPE; however, I quickly learned that we all shared the same interests for sexual health and informing our peers. I also realized that everyone had questions and no one knew everything about sexual health which created a safe and healthy environment for all of us. Overall, I think the coolest part about being in SHAPE is knowing that the information we give to others can help prevent one more teen pregnancy or one more person contracting an STD. And even though it may only be one, it feels really good to know that we are informing people and making an impact with everything that we do. I can only hope that the information that I learned and the experiences I’ve had in SHAPE can go on to help me and other people throughout my lifetime.
Sarah Cueto
My name is Sarah Cueto and I’m currently a senior at Boulder High school. I joined SHAPE my sophomore year, and have enjoyed every second of it! When I first joined I didn’t actually think I’d be capable of talking about sex in front of other kids, let alone offering them condoms, but over the past three years now I’ve done both so many times I’ve lost count! I feel loved and appreciated at all of our meetings, and enjoy the company of every one of our members, no matter their age, because we all share a common goal and interest. Because of our amazingly supportive group I’ve gained confidence in all aspects of my life and feel as though we’ve all made a profound impact on the Boulder Community. My biggest hope is that the work I’ve done with SHAPE will help improve the lives and health of my fellow teens!

Hi, I’m Clara, and I go to school in Boulder, class of 2011. As a teen, I know how tough it is to navigate the world of sexual health. It’s a swamp of withheld and mis-information. I love SHAPE because it’s a rare beast: a group of honest, open people dedicated to supporting our peers without judgment and with full dedication to fact. In SHAPE I learn about all aspects of sexual health (STIs, pregnancy, relationships, sexual identity, etc.) and how to share my knowledge with others. I’ve done presentations in health classes and at other events all around Boulder county, I’ve worked the SHAPE booth at Creek Fest, and I’ve lobbied for sexual health issues that effect teens at our state capitol. As a SHAPEr, I know that what I do helps teens live their lives in control of their own body, with the resources they need to keep themselves healthy. I feel very lucky to be involved in a program whose effect on the community is obvious and powerful. And frankly, it never feels like work. I get to meet so many cool people, and I get to talk about things that really matter to me.
Oh, yeah, what did the penis say to the condom?
“Cover me, I’m going in!” (buh dum- chhhh)
Chloe Boggs
I joined SHAPE at the beginning of my sophomore year in high school. I knew very little about sexual health, so I figured I could have fun and learn at the same time. SHAPE gave me a chance to branch out and step outside my comfort zone. It has been a wonderful experience and I have never felt so accepted by a group of people my age. Everyone at SHAPE is caring, accepting and understanding and we all work well together during presentations, games, and condom zaps. Joining SHAPE was the best decision I made. It gave me a home away from home, and I made a whole new group of friends that didn’t go to my school. SHAPE has increased my self-confidence, improved my speaking abilities, and I now know everything there is to know about sexual health.
